Cooler size

Hello, new to the group. Figure I will just get right to it. I am driving out to SD from NH in Feb for a bison hunt with my father. Both of us will get a chance at 1 each. The guide said we are looking at about 400 to 500 lb each after both are butchered. I'm looking into building a temporary cooler in the back of my truck bed. It will have the dimensions 6'x4'x1.8'. Now that should be about 43 cubic feet of cooler. My question is, is this enough? The meat will be vacuum sealed in small bags. I have a truck tool box in the back that I want to keep my gear in. It is a 8' bed but two feet of that is the tool box. It will be Feb and ill make it out of 2inch foam board that i’ll get from Home depot. Just want to make sure this will be big enough for 800-1000 lbs of meat? Any comments are welcomed or even tips would be great.

I would talk to the butcher

I would talk to the butcher that is going to cut them up and freeze them for you.

He would be the best in the know unless someone on this dead site has had it done.

What ranch are you going to be hunting on?
