I finally got a chance this past weekend to go up to the mountains and do a little bit of scouting for my upcoming deer hunt. The Gila NF has been getting some good rain lately so the part of the forest that I'm headed to is looking good. i did not see any deer but I did find the usual droppings and tracks. I also found a nice Coues deer shed. The last picture is Cooke's range. Cookes Range is a basin and range north-south trending uplift with a center-north section intruded by granodiorite which forms Cookes Peak, 8,408 feet. More to come soon. I plan on going back upthere next month.
